Silver Cornet Band Concert on the Green at First State Heritage Park
Extended Hours for First State Heritage Park Sites Thursday, June 2
May 31, 2005
In the runup to Race Weekend, the First State Heritage Park at Dover is sponsoring a concert on The Green and extending the hours of several of the Park sites until 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2. The extended hours apply to the Old State House Museum, The Biggs Museum of American Art, Delaware Public Archives and the Delaware State Visitor Center.
At 7 p.m. the Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band performs on The Green as part of the City of Dover Parks and Recreation concert series. This sponsorship was made possible, in part, by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency committed to promoting and supporting the arts in Delaware.
The Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band is a unique, 35-piece all-brass concert band. It is the first nonmilitary brass band formed in Delaware, and it owes its inspiration to the factory brass bands of England and the American town bands popular at the turn of the 20th century.
The First State Heritage Park at Dover is a partnership of the Department of State, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and the Delaware Economic Development Office.
