What Every Woman Veteran Should Know: Delaware Women Veterans' Symposium April 30 to Address Special Needs of Military Women

April 14, 2005

Whether they spent their military careers on home soil in Delaware, or are returning from Iraq and other global conflict zones, women veterans face special challenges. From sexual trauma to child care, from job training to health care, military women have specific needs that often do not get public attention.

The Delaware Commission of Veterans' Affairs will pay tribute to women veterans and raise public awareness of their needs at the First State Women Veterans' Symposium on Saturday, April 30, at the Buena Vista State Conference Center in New Castle.

The all-day conference features workshops and discussion groups on veterans' benefits and services, money management, healthy living, and many other topics. Secretary of State Harriet Smith Windsor will address the symposium. Current and former military women, including veterans of the Gulf War, will conduct conference activities.

The symposium fee of $10 includes continental breakfast and lunch. Reservations are limited. For more information, call the Division of Veterans' Affairs at 1-800-344-9900. TO REGISTER, CLICK HERE.
